Milk alternatives
True lactose intolerance and digestion.
In general, lactose in-tolerance does not lead to an inflammatory response. If undigested, lactose can carry too much water into the bowel and can lead to flatulence and diarrhoea – which is the main symptom associated with undigested lactose.
Most allergies in milk in our society start from the Casein (primarily milk protein) and immunoglobulin. These are hard to digest for the sensitive individual and can lead to a wide variety of reactions including mucous conditions.
Whey is made from the serum that is separated when the casein in milk is converted to cheese.
