Proteco Cold Pressed Unrefined Flaxseed Oil, produced by pressing
the seeds of the Flax plant, is the richest source of the valuable
Omega-3 fatty acids. Only Flaxseed Oil that is cold pressed and
unrefined provides any benefit to the consumer.
The human body needs two essential fatty acids (EFA's) to function effectively:
1. Omega-3 (Linolenic Acid)
2. Omega-6 (Linoleic Acid)
As
our bodies cannot produce these EFA's we need to obtain adequate levels
through our diet, where the proportion of Omega-3 should be almost
double the amount of Omega-6. Cold Pressed Unrefined Flaxseed Oil is
highly polyunsaturated oil and as a result is susceptible to oxidation.
During the production process Proteco takes vital steps to reduce
factors leading to oxidation.
Step 1: The oil is cold pressed using screw presses at ambient temperatures with light exclusion.
Step 2: The oil is packaged into glass bottles, reducing exposure to light.
Step 3: Each bottle is flushed with inert gas to expel oxygen to preserve freshness.
Fresh
Flaxseed Oil retains its vital nutrients unspoiled for 4 months if
opened. However it should be consumed within 3-6 weeks after opening as
light, oxygen and high temperatures rapidly destroy the Omega-3's. Care
should be taken to store Cold Pressed Flaxseed Oil below 4°C (Flaxseed
Oil must never be heated). For general health, it is recommended that
one tablespoon is consumed daily (professional advice should be
obtained).
